First Birthday Celebrations

The library celebrated its first birthday over the weekend of 11-13 July 2008, with several events structured for the library users.

These included :~

 

Friday 11 July

a music jamming session for the 12 to 18 year old young people.  Everyone who attended enjoyed playing on the electric guitar, electric organ, recorder,and a full set of drums.

 

Saturday 12 July

cream tea served most of the day by the Mickleover Library User Group members.  Over 150 scones with cream and jam were served during the day.  The group had the chance to speak to members of the public and publicise the My Mickleover Photography Competition and find two people willing to give a talk in the future, one on Sierra Leone and one on China.

 

Sunday 13 July

Almost 20 people turned up for the short walk and picnic in the library.  It was a great day for the walk, which took around 45 minutes, and the B-Active leader was very helpful and gave a small talk after the walk.

 

We hope to arrange further walks in association with the B-Active group in the future.
