The group organised a visit to the National Sikh Heritage Centre and Holocaust Museum in Princes Street, Derby in February 2011.
We were greeted by Amrik Singh, the Operations Co-
Then we went into the main museum area where the origins of the Sikh religion are shown on a timeline and numerous artefacts are on display.
Next is a section devoted to the importance and inclusion of women within the Sikh
religion. Finally, there is a photo-
Lastly we visited the Gurdwara, the place of worship for the Sikh religion.
The MLUG would like to thank Mr Amrik Singh, Mr Atwal (Snr), Cllr Ajit Atwal and the volunteers who provided refreshments at the end of the visit to the group. This was a very informative visit and everyone learnt something about the history and heritage of the Sikh religion and its followers.
